We will focus on the basic traditional Silversmithing technique of Hand Raising, which is a process of hammering a flat disk of metal into a bowl using hammers and stakes. You will be introduced to metalworking techniques, learning how to use the different hammers for making the bowl by Blocking, Raising, Caulking and Planishing. You can take your skills further by learning to forge a spoon, or use the Scoring and Folding technique to create a geometric shaped bowl or box. These pieces will be initially created in copper." |
